There are several sources of wholesalers and drop shippers online, including Worldwide Brands, Salehoo, DHGate and Ali Express. The last two are both fairly new marketplaces for Chinese wholesalers and drop shippers, while Worldwide Brands is a long established directory of suppliers based in the United States. But which is the best if you are are new to online retail?
Worldwide Brands is a directory of certified drop-shippers, liquidators, manufacturers and wholesalers – mostly based in the United States, but there are many from around the world too.
It costs $299 to join, but there are no additional costs and you also get access to some good tutorials (for beginners) and customer support.
DHGate is a very popular marketplace for drop shippers and wholesalers based in China, nearly all of which are willing to ship internationally.
There are no checks performed before suppliers are added to DH Gate, but there is a rating system that can help you find the best suppliers in each category.
DHGate is free to join and offers some of the lowest prices for wholesale goods on the internet.
Which is Better?
DHGate.com has a huge range or products at very low prices – that's something that a directory of certified suppliers like Worldwide Brands will struggle to compete with. Prices on DH Gate are absurdly low in many cases – but the quality is sometimes lacking and delivery can certainly be very slow from China to the USA.
Where Worldwide Brands has the advantage is that it's suppliers are all verified and guaranteed to be reliable and legitimate – something no open marketplace like DHGate or AliExpress.com can offer. Moreover, most are based in the US, so shipping will be much faster.
Worldwide Brands offers a good balance of a huge list of products, relatively low prices and most importantly reliable suppliers. If you have the money, it's probably the best option to start with – but both are good sources of low cost wholesale products.
